Scene Around Town: Fort Edmonton Park

Fort Edmonton Park has been called Edmonton's best-kept secret. Nestled in a corner in the southwest area of the City, the Park features a re-construction of the Fort Edmonton fur-trading centre from the 1800's. There are also several "streets" in the park from different eras: 1885, 1905 and the 1920's. All have reconstructions of buildings of notable businesses and Edmontonians from those time periods.

Volunteers man the different buildings in period costumes and are extremely knowledgable about the lifestyles and history of the past. You can ride the steam locomotive and streetcar, as unlimited rides on both are included with the price of admission.

The Park is open from ten to six daily, June 30 to September 3, with more limited hours after Labour Day. Adult admission is $7.75, for Youths (13-17) $5.75 and Children (2-12) is $4.00. There is a discount for seniors and the differently-abled.
