Countries and Cultures from Around the World Celebrated With Food, Dance and Song
Heritage Days is a time of dance, song -- and, of course, food! Countries and cultures that are respresented in Edmonton gather in Hawerlak Park for three
days of festivities. Dancers in traditional dress perform, ethnic music fills the air and the aroma
of food entices everyone who passes by.
Thousands of people descend upon Hawerlak Park during the three-day long weekend. Since cars are not
permitted into the park for this event (except for the performers' vehicles), everyone has to either walk,
cycle or take the special shuttle buses that run back and forth between Hawerlak Park and several of the City's
shopping centres.
I hope you had a chance to get to Hawerlak Park and sample some of the world's cuisine. In case you missed it,
click on the link below for a list of just some of the countries and cultures represented, along with
photos from their pavilions.
